It’s Out!
That’s right, the big Chapter 2 update is now out and free for everyone. You can get it on Steam, by downloading it from the public folders (Mega.nz / Mediafire) or by getting it on Itch.io.
(Note: There seems to be a network issue on Itch.io. I will update it as soon as I can. If you’re really eager, you can use the public folder builds.)
So what’s new? The entire Old Capitol Grounds area has been added to Chapter 2. You can find it either by recruiting Empress and heading to the Shrine of the Hero, or by crossing Westwoods past the Harpy camp.
Three new transformations. Raccoon, Kitsune, and Raptor. Raccoon and Raptor have full TF comics.
New quests.
Tons of new NPCs.
Tons of new dialogue.
Three huge regions to explore.
A bunch of new enemies.
New bosses.
New skills, including some for Izuna.
Rebalanced combat. Westwoods is now way more dangerous, better gear up in the Capitol Valley first.
A stupid dancing minigame.
Tourists you can tell to go to the –
Casino where you can lose money on very simply coded games!
Arisu! She’s kind of a beast.
And there’s more besides that.
This version is also updated to UCRT64/SDL3, so it is now officially targeted at Windows 10/11 platforms (the Linux and OSX builds are the same as before). This will hopefully help with the odd memory errors Win11 users were experiencing. We have also dropped support for FMOD (nobody was using it), as well as dumping Boost and PhysFS since SDL3 has a filesystem now.
Now get out there and explore!
As usual, the next little while will be bug fixes and minor additions. I’m sure there will be a lot of them.
RoP Soundtrack Updated
DurrDiss has updated the Bandcamp version, and the Steam version should be updated as well (barring technical problems).
The update features 11 new tracks, including some composed for the game that wound up being unused or are intended for future areas. You’ll hear them all eventually, but you can listen to them right now! Unless you can’t, in which case, they’re really good. Trust me.
So what now?
I am making good progress on Project Ophiucus. I want to have it done in March but these things always end up taking longer than you expect, I’ve learned that from experience. After that, I start the engine work on WoR. Next week we’ll have a WoR Lore update where InkyFluffs goes a bit into the backgrounds of the covens. We might even show off some concepts!
In addition, I just greenlit Project Virgo. More on that when it’s a bit further along, this one makes heavy use of an external contractor. I’m just the writer, so it won’t take away from WoR’s development schedule.
Soon (maybe this week or next week?) Bound by Love and Grace will be released, the next Knights of Justice entry. Get psyched!
