You know, some of the authors I left reviews on have responded to me, thanking me for the critiques and intending to improve. Is Scribblehub Leakage making a difference? Probably not.
The Rules
1: No AI. If your book cover has AI, if your book text is AI, or if you admit to using AI anywhere in your writing process, you go right on the slop heap. The slop heap is worse than the trash heap, because trash can be entertaining, even good, even if it’s trashy. You’re neither. Get the fuck out of here with that.
You do not get anything for tricking me and slipping AI past the radar. This shit is everywhere. However, AI detectors are laughably unreliable, there is no perfect way to catch it. I’ll be pissed if I find out.
2: I will give your work a fair shot. ALWAYS. This does not mean reading the entire thing, it means at least checking out a few chapters in. Tolstoy was long-winded because he got paid per word, and some of these stories make Tolstoy look like a bathroom advertisement.
3: I will leave a review on your Scribblehub page. It’s very difficult to get reviews for anything, good or bad. Most people don’t want to leave them. Well, I will. I will try to be constructive, too. Be the change you want to see in the world.
How Ratings Work
I will give your story letter grades in the departments. These are subjective, which if you’re new to the concept of artistic appreciation, is true for all works of art. Art is a conversation between the creator and the reader, it requires both, it will always be subjective. They are A through F, with A being good, and F being proFoundly bad. I can give out + or – added to the end but not for F, if you get an F reconsider everything. F’s are usually for a lack of eFFort, or perhaps, lack of skill(F).
Which categories get letter grades varies. Not all stories are the same, some have precious little dialogue and must be coddled and kept warm like a baby bird who drinks drinks with a lot of ice in them. I can’t give out a letter grade for dialogue to a story that has little dialogue.
Not all of these stories are TF stories. Sorry, I know that’s what you’re into but you’re gonna have to meet people who write about things like getting on the bus and don’t even turn into a bug.
Doomsday Protocol: Rebirth
https://www.scribblehub.com/series/1648860/doomsday-protocol-rebirth-of-the-apex-survivor
What if we had a litrpg but it’s isekai-ing into your own life ten years before the apocalypse? Okay but what if it’s really boring.
Everything Gets its Own Line – C+
This is something I see a lot on Scribblehub.
If you put everything on a new line,
it massively slows down the pacing. Your eyes
stop
at the end of the line, it’s a longer pause than a period or ellipses. You can do this to add a lot of emphasis to an important line, which means that if you do it constantly then the story slows to a crawl and nothing can be emphasized. This story does that about lines that don’t matter.
Head-hopping and Narrator Changing Randomly – A
Okay this is what I want. I want to see a story start in first-person and switch to third-person a chapter later. I want the story to switch to another character’s POV, which is very easy to do (just start a new paragraph with them performing an action, most readers pick up on this easily.) I especially want a POV switch for like 30 words as a character muses to themselves about nothing important, and then switching back to the previous POV by putting “Back to Ren” just straight the fuck up. Pull me right out of the story.

What the fuck is a prologue? – F
Okay so the story starts with two prologue chapters which don’t seem to have actually happened. Chapter 1 starts the story events again, except less detailed and slightly different. Why is there a prologue?
Pointless LitRPG Stuff that’s Kinda Creepy – F
Hey why the fuck are the female characters given a beauty stat? That’s weird right? Also the LitRPG stuff is just whatever the author says it is. I know a lot of LitRPG stuff is pointless filler that gives the impression of advancement when advancement is better done by showing instead of explicitly telling, but hey some people like it.
Really not okay with giving women beauty scores like it’s an objective number! Ren (our hero) is a creep!
Overall:
This one’s pretty bad and I recommend against it. It doesn’t establish anything, nobody has any personality except “Knows what a survival is” and people sort of teleport. Our hero is in the woods looking at the sunset and then he’s back in the shelter working on water filtration. Why’d he go to the woods? To dramatically look at the sunset?
Not worth your time.
Hondoom and the Undying Miracle
https://www.scribblehub.com/series/656286/hondoom-and-the-undying-miracle
This one has spelling errors and ellipses in the synopsis, and declares itself “interesting”. The author also intends for a manga and anime adaptation. I love that confidence, let’s see if it’s earned!
Earning That Confidence – F
This reads like English-as-a-fourth-language dreck. Ellipses with seven periods, entire words missing that even cheap translation software doesn’t usually miss, and dialogue is handled like it’s a script.
Overall
SOLDIER 1:Brother, have you heard the news of master REN getting punished by LORD HIGHNES,HOKABIN LIARIA, just for a pity mistake.....!!
I’ll be honest, I picked these two stories entirely because their protagonist is named Ren. That’s it, I thought it was funny. Turns out both are rancid, but in different and unique ways! Pass.
TO BE CONTINUED IN THE CH.2
Affron’s Evolution
https://www.scribblehub.com/series/2635352/affrons-evolution
Okay I picked this one because the author’s username is please_read_my_work. I have bad news. Your work sucks!
Mechanical Problems – F
Missing quotes, missing letters, spelling errors galore, uncapitalized words. This is 5th grade shit. It also switches POV between paragraphs from first-person to third-person.
Why the fuck is there a colon – A+
”Anyways. I’m Etan,” she continues to stare at his face in satisfaction:”others call me ‘the god of Beauty’”
That got me to sit up and take notice. I am so confused.
He Groans – A
”f..finally. Something real to eat. I’m gonna taste the absolute LIFE, out of this egg! I am SO hungry, it’s unbelievable!”he Groans.
Look this story sucks shit but man the constant errors are producing Moments for me. I choose to believe this guy is named Groans since it’s capitalized, but also since the author frequently fails to capitalize things correctly, he might also be So Hungry. He does say so explicitly.
Wait what does LIFE taste like? Salty? Peppery? I should go taste the absolute LIFE out of some spaghetti, I’m getting hungry, but not SO hungry.
Overall
Please don’t write anything ever, mister or miss please_read_my_work. The only thing you have going for you is your polite username.
he smiles happily, right into his eyes
What the fuck is wrong with this guy’s face?
Wrap Up
I generally pick these at random, either by grabbing them off the front page when they have no reviews, or digging through the series lists. All three of them turned up trash and I don’t feel good about it. That’s Scribblehub Leakage, baby!
